Blog Description

Welcome to our blog! As seniors here at Washington State University, we've heard the same jokes about living in the Palouse...time and time again...

"So how much time do you spend in those wheatfields...?"

"No wonder you're all alcoholics...there's nothing to do in Pullman except drink..."

...and my personal favorite, a quote from Don James, retired University of Washington football coach: "Attending WAZZU is great preparation for real life. It teaches you not to expect too much."

WELL, while we have as good of a sense of humor as anyone, if not better, we beg to differ. There is plenty to do in Pullman, and we plan to prove it to you. From nightlife, to outdoor recreation, to campus events/involvement, and more, Pullman earned the nickname Pullmania for a reason.

Sure, drinking may be an (albeit large) part of that, but that's the case at most American college campuses. From our last three years in this incredible town, we've got lots of personal experience in finding more to do. In our last year here, we're dedicated to finding even more and sharing it with all of you, if for no other reason than giving you something to share with your parents when they worry about your weekend habits.

Please share this with your friends, and send us messages or comments with any suggestions or requests of things you'd like to see. We want everyone to enjoy Pullman as much as we do!

Dad's Weekend

Next Friday thousands of dads will descend upon Pullman, and Wazzu will have one of its best weekends of the year! That's right, Dad's Weekend is coming and we have some ideas for how to show your Pop a good time.

Friday: Dad's Challenge at the SRC
Think you and your dad would be a good team on The Amazing Race? Take a trial run and participate in the SRC's 3-hour program where you and Dad work together and explore your limits on the high course.

Friday: Brewfest
Eta Sigma Delta presents the opportunity to taste Northwest beers while enjoying a catered buffet, silent auction, and live music. There are tasting sessions from 5-7pm and 8-10pm, and costs $35 before the event and $40 at the door. Must be 21 or older to attend!

Saturday: Bear Center Open House
The WSU Bear Center will have staff on hand to talk about bear biology, conservation and research from 10 am to 2 pm. Shirts will be available for purchase and all proceeds will benefit the WSU Bear Center. The event is free and is located at the junction of Grimes Way and Airport Road.

Saturday: Football vs. Arizona State
The best part of Dad's Weekend! Tailgate with your dad at your place or in the Fieldhouse, then head to Martin Stadium and cheer on the Cougs as they take on the Sun Devils. Kickoff is at 7:30 pm, so dress warm!

Sunday: Mini Golf
Head over to Airway Hills Miniature Golf and Driving Range, located on 4811 Airport Road, for some golfing fun before your dad heads home! Prizes will be given for 1st through 4th place.
